CNA/CMT Certification

The CNA/CMT Certification Program provide participants financial assistance (Tuition, Books, Uniforms, Equipment and Materials) to further their education in the healthcare field. United Services Community Action Agency (USCAA) has partnered with local educational institutions to provided certifications in the CNA/CMT profession. USCAA’s goal is to assist the community in being self-sufficient. Assisting participants educationally is a great way of accomplishing our goal.

Here is our process:

  1. Register – Please bring Photo ID, social security cards and birthdates for yourself and members of your household, as well as a utility bill or official document to demonstrate proof of residence in either Jackson, Clay, or Platte County of Missouri. You may register February 8th through February 26th, 2010 at the United Services CAA Employment Office – 8801 East 63rd Street, Suite 201 Kansas City, Missouri 64133. Click here for location info.
  2. Orientation – Currently scheduled for March 12 at Longview Community College. You must be registered to attend.
  3. Job Readiness – this is a 2-day class that is required to be completed before acceptance into the CNA program.
  4. Work Ethics – this is a 1-day class that is required to be completed before acceptance into the CNA program.
  5. Entry Refresher Classes – this is an optional set of classes to prepare for the entrance test for CNA or TABE for CMT.
  6. Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (www.dhss.mo.gov/FCSR) – This is a background check that costs $9.00 if mailed (6-8 weeks to receive) or $10.00 if completed online (3-7 business days to receive results) and must have by panel interview date.
  7. Current TB Test (must have by panel interview date)

Once these steps are complete, please call to make an appointment for a panel interview (816/268-4809). If accepted after panel, client’s name will be submitted to school of choice (Penn Valley, Maple Woods, Blue River, and Longview). The school will then contact the client to set up time to enroll for classes.

We provide tuition, books, stethoscope and gait belt. Although the student is required to start classes in scrubs and white tennis shoes, we provide a voucher the second week of class for additional scrubs.

NOTE: If a person has a Class A or B Felony of any kind on their background, they will not be accepted into the program.
